Description

Fort Harrison State Park is dog-friendly. Formerly the site of Fort Benjamin Harrison, the park features a Citizen's Military Training Camp, Civilian Conservation Corps camp, and a World War II prisoner of war camp. As well as being a wander back through time, there are plenty of trails you can actually wander on to enjoy the natural beauty of the park. Starting out at Delaware Lake picnic area and leading to Duck Pond, the easiest trail is the Harrison Trace Trail; at just over three miles in length on a flat asphalt surface it's ideal for any levels of walker. There are a number of moderate trails that weave around the wooded areas in the park, but the most difficult trail is Schoen Creek Trail. This hiking trail leads through prairies and grasslands. Dogs are welcome on all of the trails, as long as they are on a leash under six feet and you clean up any mess after them. The park is open every day of the week from 7am to 8pm.
