Fishers Island review in New London, Connecticut

Catch the island ferry in New London, CT. The ferry welcomes dogs on board, with a leash, at no extra charge. Once arriving on the island, visitors can walk to the small village (15 min walk) or head over to dog-friendly South Beach near Elizabeth Airfield. The beach is a bit rocky but dogs can go off-leash. Visitors can spot birds, view beautiful homes or shop at the village green with their dogs. Plenty of spots to tie up your dog and give them shade on the village green while visiting local merchants. Visit Topper's Ice Cream shop and order "the dog bowl" with ice cream named after different dog breeds. Dogs are also welcome to visit the Fishers Island Yacht Club. Best time to go is May to early October. Shops take an afternoon siesta from 1-3 pm.
